Hawaii Carpenters' Trust Funds, employee benefit trusts established pursuant to the Labor Management Relations Act (LMRA), 29 U.S.C. § 186(c), and the Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA), 29 U.S.C. § 1101 et seq., brought suit to recover unpaid ERISA trust fund contributions from Tanaka & Uyehara, Inc. According to the Trust Funds, T & U was obligated to contribute monies under the 1978-81 collective bargaining...
