OPINION

MURRAY, Justice.

In this criminal case the defendant, Howard G. Paster, appeals his conviction of second-degree sexual assault and we granted certiorari to the state to review the propriety of the defendant's sentence.

The defendant was charged with sexually assaulting his three-year-old daughter. At trial the state presented the testimony of defendant's former wife and seven-year-old son, as well as that of a counselor, a social worker,...
