A Lake County jury convicted the defendant, Annette Price, of murder (Ill. Rev. Stat. 1985, ch. 38, par. 9-1(a)) and armed violence (Ill. Rev. Stat. 1985, ch. 38, par. 33A-2) in connection with the death of Gabriel Perez, Jr. The jury found her not guilty of voluntary manslaughter. (Ill. Rev. Stat. 1985, ch. 38, par. 9-2(b).)
