On May 16, 1984, defendant, O.B. Davis, entered a plea of guilty to the offense of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, a violation of La.R.S. 14:95.1. In exchange for defendant's guilty plea, the district attorney nolle prossed additional charges including a charge of aggravated battery, a violation of La.R.S. 14:34, and a charge of being a habitual offender, a violation of La.R.S. 15:529.1. He was sentenced to serve five years at hard labor...
