The United States filed this action pursuant to 28 U.S.C. §§ 1340 and 1345 and 26 U.S.C. §§ 7402(a) and 7403 to reduce outstanding federal tax assessments plus statutory additions to judgment, to foreclose tax liens against certain real property, and to obtain, if necessary, a deficiency judgment against the defendants.
