In May 1984, a jury convicted appellant Crews of the offenses of assault with a dangerous weapon and carrying a concealed weapon. D.C. Code §§ 22-502, -3204 (1981). His major contention on appeal is that the trial court erred in permitting two prior arrests of Crews to be used in cross-examination by the government of defense witnesses who had testified as to Crews' reputation for truth and veracity.
