Following a jury trial, defendant was convicted of assault with intent to rob and steal while armed, MCL 750.89; MSA 28.284, assault with intent to do great bodily harm less than murder, MCL 750.84; MSA 28.279, and possession of a firearm in the commission of a felony, MCL 750.227b; MSA 28.424(2). He was sentenced to prison terms of from thirty-five to seventy years for the assault with intent to commit robbery conviction, 6 1/2 to ten years for the assault...
