Claude C. Duncan, Jr. was tried by a jury on January 15 and 16, 1985, on charges that he murdered Ronald Mullis and used a firearm in the commission of the murder. The jury found him guilty of both charges. On March 1, 1985, in accordance with the verdict, the court sentenced Duncan to life imprisonment on the murder conviction and two years on the firearm offense.
