Al DiFranco ("DiFranco") worked as a photographer in the "Graphics and Reproduction Center" of the City of Chicago until he was fired by his supervisor Carol Witherell-Niec ("Witherell-Niec"). He sues both the City and Witherell-Niec, under 42 U.S.C. § 1983, alleging that he was fired because of speech protected by the First Amendment.
