Evidence for the state was presented chiefly through the testimony of Rod A. Broadwell, a special agent for the SBI, who had been involved in an undercover drug investigation in Johnston County since March 1983. He testified that in December of that year, he had gone with two other individuals to a mobile home where defendant lived with Rickie Williams.
