JAMES HUNTER, III, Circuit Judge:

On January 9, 1985, a jury found Hugo Harrigan guilty of grand larceny in violation of V.I.Code Ann. tit. 14, § 1083(1) (1964). At trial, the government established that on June 24, 1984, Harrigan had robbed Vincent Brooks at knife-point, taking ninety dollars in cash, some marijuana, and a bag of bread and cheese. On January 21, 1985, the United States Attorney filed an habitual criminal information...
