Defendant, Harold Horn, was charged on February 27, 1984, by bill of information with the attempted second degree murder of one Swanson Coleman, in violation of La.R.S. 14:27 and 30.1.

On December 5, 1984, the State amended the charge to aggravated battery, to which amended charge the defendant entered a plea of guilty. The defendant was also found to have used a firearm in the commission of the offense. The record discloses that the defendant...
