Defendant, Donald Jones, was convicted at a bench trial of murder (Ill. Rev. Stat. 1983, ch. 38, par. 9-1(a)(2)) and sentenced to a term of natural life imprisonment. He appeals, contending (1) that the conviction of murder should be reduced to involuntary manslaughter, (2) that the trial court improperly admitted hearsay and irrelevant evidence, and (3) that his sentence of natural life...
