Appellant Terry Stafford was convicted of being a felon in possession of a pistol, see Minn.Stat. § 624.713, subd. 1(b) (1984), possession of a short-barrelled shotgun, see Minn.Stat. § 609.67, subd. 1 and 2 (1984), and five counts of attempted first-degree murder, Minn.Stat. §§ 609.185(4), 609.17, 609.05 (1984).
