Jean Pennington, the appellant, entered an "Alford" plea1 in the Circuit Court for Baltimore City, to a charge of obstruction of justice and was sentenced to time already served. The charge stemmed from the alleged stabbing of Susannah Sennett, in the District of Columbia, in order to dissuade Ms. Sennett from testifying in a pending Maryland assault case.
