On November 21, 1986, the appellant (defendant), Steve West, filed an application for a T.R.A.P. 10 extraordinary appeal, seeking a reversal of the trial court's order of October 3, 1986, which required the defendant to be mentally evaluated, first at the Cherokee Mental Health Center, and then if necessary, at the Middle Tennessee Health Institute.
