In September of 1980, the appellant pled guilty in the "City Court of Atlanta" to the misdemeanor offense of driving under the influence of alcohol. In January of 1985, he moved that the conviction and sentence be vacated and set aside, submitting, in support of the motion, his affidavit to the effect that he is illiterate, that he did not have a lawyer when he pled guilty, and that he did not understand what the judge said to him.
