OPINION

STONE, P.J.

The People seek a writ of mandate to compel respondent superior court to reinstate a charge of kidnapping for extortion (Pen. Code, § 209, subd. (a))1 that was dismissed by respondent superior court pursuant to section 995. We find that the kidnapping for extortion charge was improperly dismissed and grant a peremptory writ of mandate.
