Clarence Dickerson was arrested on a warrant charging him with "loitering for the purpose of soliciting or engaging in prostitution or other lewd, lascivious or indecent act," a misdemeanor under the Richmond City Code.1 He was tried by a jury, found guilty of "loitering for the purpose of prostitution," and sentenced to twelve months in jail.
