In the instant action, which arose out of an alleged wrongful discharge from employment, the jury returned a verdict in favor of the plaintiff, Andrea Rady, on her defamation claim only, for $1,000,000 in compensatory damages and $1,000,000 in punitive damages.

The defendant, Forest City Enterprises, Inc., now has moved for a new trial and/or remittitur on the following grounds:
