Petitioner Earnest Harold Jones was convicted of possession of a controlled substance under § 20-2-70, Code of Alabama 1975, and was sentenced to 15 years' imprisonment in the penitentiary. The substance alleged by the August 8, 1984, indictment to have been possessed was "hydrocodone". By his petition for writ of habeas corpus, Jones contends that "hydrocodone" is not a controlled substance under the list of items in § 20-2-70. Therefore...
