The defendant, John Burgess, was charged by bill of information on November 8, 1984 with attempt simple burglary, a violation of R.S. 14:27 and 14:62. The defendant pled not guilty at his arraignment on November 13, 1984. On January 8, 1985, the defendant was found guilty as charged by a unanimous vote of the six-person jury.
