KASS, J.

As found by a jury, Arthur A. Gauthier, the defendant, committed an unarmed assault with intent to rob1 and an assault and battery2 upon Penny Broach on High Street in Salem at 10:00 P.M. on April 21, 1982. One-half hour later, on Ward Street, he committed an armed assault with intent to rob3 and assault and battery by means of a dangerous weapon4
