After a bench trial, defendant, Perry Turner, was convicted of aggravated battery (Ill. Rev. Stat. 1983, ch. 38, par. 12-4(b)(1)) and was sentenced to a term of two years' probation, the first four months of which were to be served in the Cook County department of corrections.
