The Maryland General Assembly, in 1959, enacted a statute which proscribed the use of electronic devices for the purpose of overhearing or recording private conversation unless the parties to that conversation consented. The consent could be either expressed or implied. 1959 Md. Laws, ch. 706. That statute, in substance, remains the law of Maryland.
