On November 15, 1983, appellants — a partnership, its two partners, and the wife of one of the partners — filed a three-count declaration against appellee in the Circuit Court for Anne Arundel County.

Count One alleged that appellee was an attorney "licensed" to practice law in Maryland, that in 1978 he was employed to represent the partnership and its partners in an action filed in the Superior Court of the District of Columbia...
