WALTERS, Justice.

On December 3, 1983, appellee Stewart was injured in an automobile accident caused by an uninsured motorist. At the time of the accident Stewart was insured under a policy issued by appellant State Farm. The policy included uninsured motorist coverage which provided that State Farm would "pay all sums which the insured shall be legally entitled to recover as damages from the owner or operator...
