SHEA, Justice.

The defendant, Alfred M. White, stands convicted of second-degree murder after a trial by jury.1 After denying the defendant's motion for a new trial, the trial justice sentenced White to fifty years at the Adult Correctional Institutions, of which ten years were suspended, and he imposed a probationary term of ten years.
