OPINION

KELLEHER, Justice.

In this Superior Court action for libel the jury returned a verdict for the defendants. Subsequent to the verdict, the trial justice denied defendants' motion for a directed verdict which was made at the conclusion of the presentation of all the evidence. The decision had been deferred pending the return of the jury's verdict. A second trial justice heard and denied the plaintiffs' motion for a new trial.1
