Kenneth and Betty Dahle brought an action for damages against Atlantic Richfield Company (ARCO) after Kenneth Dahle was injured in an industrial accident. In their complaint, the Dahles alleged that Kenneth Dahle's injuries were proximately caused by ARCO's negligence.
