A jury convicted James Howard of forgery under I.C. § 18-3601. The district judge imposed a ten-year indeterminate sentence. On appeal, we are asked to decide the following issues: (1) Was extrinsic evidence erroneously admitted for the purpose of impeaching Howard's testimony on an immaterial point? (2) Was Howard denied his right to assistance of counsel, and to confrontation of witnesses, by reason of partial deafness which allegedly interfered...
