John P. Doyle was arrested October 9, 1984 in Kansas City at 39th and Main Streets when the automobile he was driving was observed to violate a red traffic signal at that intersection. Doyle displayed apparent conditions associated with alcohol intoxication and upon testing with a chemical breathalyzer, Doyle was found to have a blood alcohol concentration of .21 percent.
