DOUCET, Judge.

Plaintiffs, Bridget Slay and her husband, Clyde, filed suit against defendant, Old Southern Life Insurance Company, for insurance benefits claimed for the hospitalization and medical treatment of their son, Steven. After trial on the merits, the district court rendered judgment in favor of plaintiffs and against the defendant for the amount claimed under the policy as well as a statutory penalty and attorney's fees.
