Petitioner was convicted in 1982 by a Nevada district court jury of battery with the use of a deadly weapon and battery causing substantial bodily harm. He was sentenced to a term of twenty years through application of the State's habitual criminal statute. He has petitioned for a writ of habeas corpus pursuant to 28 U.S.C. § 2254.
