Defendants Lethia Watkins and Richardson Lacy were each indicted on one charge of mail fraud in violation of 18 U.S.C. § 1341 (1982). The gravamen of the offense of which defendants are accused is the defrauding of State Farm Insurance Company by arranging with a middleman to dispose of an insured automobile, thereafter reporting the car as stolen and submitting a claim for reimbursement...
