On July 2, 1983, at approximately 12:20 a.m., Ruth Rhodes Kendrick was involved in a minor traffic accident in the City of Lake Charles. Prior to the arrival of the investigating officer, Kendrick had parked her vehicle in the parking lot of a nearby convenience store.
