Calvin Watson (defendant) was indicted by the East Baton Rouge Parish grand jury and charged with aggravated rape, in violation of LSA-R.S. 14:42. He pled not guilty and was tried by a jury which returned the responsive verdict of guilty of attempted aggravated rape. The trial court imposed a sentence of fifty years at hard labor.
