Ernest Dorsey, Jr., was initially charged by bill of information with simple rape, in violation of La.R.S. 14:43, to which he pled not guilty. Subsequently, the state formally amended the bill of information to charge defendant with forcible rape, in violation of La.R.S. 14:42.1.
