STATE of Oregon, Appellant, v. Jamie Lee FIX, Respondent.

Court of Appeals of Oregon.

Decided December 17, 1986.

Attorney(s) appearing for the Case

Jonathan H. Fussner, Asst. Atty. Gen., Salem, argued the cause for appellant. With him on the brief were Dave Frohnmayer, Atty. Gen., and James E. Mountain, Jr., Sol. Gen., Salem.

Robert C. Homan, Eugene, argued the cause for respondent. On the brief was Rush M. Hoag, Public Defender's Services of Lane County, Inc., Eugene.

Before WARDEN, P.J., and VAN HOOMISSEN and YOUNG, JJ.

YOUNG, Judge.

The state appeals an order suppressing evidence obtained as the result of a warrantless search of defendant's purse. We hold that the search was justified under the "automobile exception" to the warrant requirement, see State v. Brown, 301 Or. 268, 721 P.2d 1357 (1986), and State v. Bennett, 301 Or. 299, 721 P.2d 1375
