HAYS, Justice.

Clarence Thompson, appellee, acquired oil and gas leases to twenty acres in Ouachita County, Arkansas, with the exception of a 1/8th mineral interest belonging to Marie Fife, appellant. Though unable to obtain a lease from Mrs. Fife, Thompson began drilling operations and the well was completed as a producer in January, 1984. It has produced oil at a rate of several barrels a day since its completion.
