This appeal involves a dental malpractice suit filed by plaintiff, Elaine E. McLean, against defendant, Dr. Raymond K. Hunter, and his alleged insurer, Aetna Casualty & Surety Company (Aetna). The primary issue presented is whether the trial court erred in refusing to allow a periodontist to testify on plaintiff's behalf as to the standard of care ordinarily exercised by dentists engaged in a general dentistry practice in Baton Rouge.
