A jury found Mark D. Shanz ("defendant") guilty of manslaughter, § 565.005, RSMo Cum.Supp.1982,1 and guilty of two counts of assault in the second degree, § 565.060, RSMo Cum.Supp.1983. The jury assessed punishment of ten years' imprisonment for the manslaughter, and five years' imprisonment for each of the assaults. The trial court imposed those sentences, ordering that they run consecutively. § 558.026...
