Defendant, Amjed Kuri, was charged with criminal possession of a weapon in the third degree (Penal Law § 265.02 [4]) and criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree (Penal Law § 220.03). On January 7, 1986, the weapons charge was reduced to a class A misdemeanor level prohibiting the possession of a weapon outside the scope of an otherwise valid license...
