The claimant appellant, Roxie M. Ray, was employed by Broyhill Furniture Industries (Broyhill) in Lenoir, North Carolina, for five years and four months before resigning for health reasons on 21 December 1984. Her claim for unemployment benefits was denied because the claims adjudicator found that she had voluntarily quit her employment without good cause attributable to her employer.
