COATS, Judge.

Charles Rhodes was convicted, after a bench trial, of assault in the first degree, AS 11.41.200(a)(3). The incident for which Rhodes was indicted involved his six-week old daughter Amanda. Amanda suffered a skull fracture while in Rhodes' care. On March 8, 1984, Rhodes' wife, Deborah, went to work leaving Rhodes in sole care of Amanda.
