The major question to be resolved in this appeal is whether the testimony of an arson investigator who was presented as an expert witness must, as a matter of law, be held to be incompetent evidence. If that testimony is not competent, a corollary question then is raised as to the sufficiency of other evidence to sustain a conviction.
