In a civil action based on negligence, a jury awarded the sum of $120,722.51 in favor of respondent Robert E. Blake (hereinafter Blake) and against appellant E. Thompson Petroleum Repair Co., Inc. (hereinafter Thompson). The award was reduced by an offset of $50,624, representing monies paid to Blake by Thompson's insurer, and a judgment was entered on the verdict for the sum of $70,098.51.
