CIACCIO, Judge.

Plaintiff, Paul Klein, filed this action to recover damages for personal injuries he sustained on April 29, 1983, when as a pedestrian, he was struck by a vehicle owned by defendant, Martha Himbert, and operated by her minor son, Jacques Himbert. Following a bench trial the district court granted judgment in favor of the plaintiff for $414,298.64 against defendant and against her excess liability insurer, U.S. Fire Insurance Company.
