On December 20, 1982, the Jefferson Parish district attorney filed a bill of information charging the defendant with theft of merchandise valued at Two Hundred Seventy-Nine Dollars and Ninety-Nine Cents ($279.99), in violation of LSA-R.S. 14:67.
