On April 18, 1983, the appellant Shedrick L. Davis was charged by bill of information with armed robbery in violation of R.S. 14:64. On December 5, 1983, a twelvemember jury found him guilty as charged. On January 30, 1984, he was found to be a multiple offender and was sentenced to serve forty-nine and one-half years at hard labor. His motion for appeal was granted on the same date.
